形態特徵

• Shrubs, ca. 2-4 m tall; stem short, robust, leafy upward.
• Leaves lanceolate to broadly lanceolate or sword-like, 50-85cm long, 3.5-7 cm wide, acute, flat, leaf margins often with a few deciduous teeth when young and with a few thread-like fibers in age, brown, smooth or nearly so.
• Inflorescence paniculate, terminal, erect, 1-3 m long, green; pedicels 2-5 cm long, glabrous. Flowers numerous, rather large, 6-9 cm in diam. when open, white or cream colored, sometimes green at base; perianthes 4-5.5 cm long; ovary sessile or subsessile.
• Fruit drooping, 6-ridged, indehiscent, 5-6.5 cm in diam.

分布

• 台灣 : introduced into Taiwan in 1930, widely cultivated in gardens, rather common.
• 世界 : Native to North America.
